“After many years working in ‘conventional’ schools, I am excited to work in a community that focuses on the needs of the adolescent and expects the adults in the community to be role models and curious lifelong learners. I believe that students learn best when they can explore authentic, purposeful topics that are relevant to them and can do so in a supportive community of learners. I recognize Greenspring as such a place.”
Elliot Dickson is the Adolescent Community Director at Greenspring Montessori School. With over 15 years of experience in education and a Master’s in Education for Harvard Graduate School of Education, he brings unique insights to the classroom.
Before joining us at Greenspring Montessori School, Elliot worked both at the Westminster School in Simsbury, CT and The Spence School in New York City as a teacher of middle and high school science, art, and health. In the classroom, Elliot loves working with learners in the sciences. He is constantly improving his curriculum so that all students are engaged and excited in all topics. New to Montessori methods, Elliot is interested in learning more about students’ motivation and intellectual risk-taking in the classroom.
At home, Elliot is absorbed in watching his own children learn, play, and grow. In his free moments, he enjoys reading young adult fiction, sci-fi, and well-written historical non-fiction. He has loved reading superhero comic books since he was a child and he has dabbled in drawing his own comics.
