The mission of our Athletics program is to enable each student to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. In other words, we hope that what they learn through this program will help to keep each child active throughout their lives.
Greenspring Montessori School offers a variety of after-school athletics for its students. Programs are offered seasonally in the fall, winter, and spring, and are always responsive to parent and student interest.
In order to continue to offer quality programs, we require a fee for all classes and activities offered. This fee goes toward equipment, supplies, uniforms, coaches and referees, and transportation costs, depending on the program. The full amount of your registration will be added to your FACTS account once your registration in the programs has been confirmed and we have determined that there are enough students signed up to run the program.
To learn more about our programs, please email our Athletic Director, Liz Hamilton, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the spring, we will offer Track & Field for our Upper Elementary and Adolescent students, as well as sports clinics for our Children’s House, Elementary, and Adolescent students.

About the Program:
Our Track team participates in middle school-level track meets held at other schools that participate in our interscholastic league. The format is designed to teach skills, rules and safety, while engaging in friendly competition. There are eight events at each meet: 1500m, 400m Dash, 80m Hurdles, 100m Dash, 800m Run, 200m Dash, and 4x 100m Relay. The height of the hurdles and the weight of the shot put will be middle school-sized. We invite students that are interested in trying track and field to join the team.
During the season, we will gather in the Gym (where we can leave backpacks, etc.) and will practice on campus, jog to Meadowood Regional park for more training, and attend meets with other independent schools in the Baltimore County and City area.
Minimum: 7 students
Maximum: 15 students
The team will be coached by Rodney Reid, Joanne Terrell, and Liz Hamilton. Rodney has coached Track and Basketball for many years, including Greenspring’s own Track team last year. Joanne is a Children’s House Assistant at Greenspring and she has coached Basketball and Track for the past several years. Liz teaches PE at Greenspring, while also leading several After-School sports programs.
