The Outdoor Plan
for Greenspring Montessori School
Montessori classrooms are purposeful, prepared environments. It’s time for us to extend this care and consideration so that our outdoor spaces match the beauty and intention of our indoor spaces.
What is the Outdoor Plan
Over the past several years, our staff, children, and families have worked with a firm specializing in natural play and learning environments to create a comprehensive Outdoor Plan to enhance our outdoor spaces and bring purposeful nature education to our children. When complete, our campus will provide wild spaces to explore, as well as quiet spaces for reflection, walking and riding paths for movement and fun, gardens and orchards to plant and tend to, and spaces for our classes and community to gather.
Our First Initiatives
Bicycle Path
This ⅓ of a mile path will offer opportunities for children and adolescents to walk, ride bikes, and explore our campus in a new way.
Heart of Campus
The heart of campus will be our new beloved outdoor gathering space. This will be home to ten mature native trees that provide shade and space for our community events and class activities
Setting the Stage
In order to make this plan a reality, there is much work to be done! Before anything can begin, grading and groundwork will need to be funded!
