Early Childhood Admission

For programs serving children 18 months to five years old

Welcome to Greenspring Montessori School! Finding the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child and we are here to support you on your journey. Our goal throughout the admissions process is to help provide you and your family with as much information as possible about the Montessori model and Greenspring Montessori School so that you may make an informed decision in selecting the best school for your child and family.

A Note about our Admission Entry Points

Children ages 18 months to 3 years – Toddler Program Admission
Our Toddler program serves children ages 18 months to 3 years. We admit new toddlers at any point during this program.

Children age 3 – Children’s House Program Admission
Our Children’s House program serves children ages 3-6 years old up to and including the kindergarten year.

Children often have a difficult time joining mid-cycle. As such, the recommended entry point for Children’s House is at age 3. We occasionally admit children mid-cycle at age 4. We do not admit children for the Kindergarten year, however we encourage you to learn more about our Lower Elementary Program below.

Steps for Enrollment in Early Childhood Programs at Greenspring Montessori School

1. Attend an Information Session

Early Childhood Information Sessions

Early Childhood Information Sessions are for families looking to enroll a child into our Toddler or Children’s House Programs. These are live events on our campus located at 10807 Tony Drive, Lutherville-Timonium, MD 21093. Presentations will run from 9:00-11:00am EST with a tour of campus from 11:00-11:30am EST.

Our next Admissions events will be in fall of 2024. Please contact us to inquire about enrollment. We will let you know when our fall dates are published.

2. Attend an Observation Morning

Our Observation Mornings will be offered through a virtual session on Zoom.

At least one parent or guardian is required to attend an Observation Morning after attending an Information Session in order to be considered for admission. This event allows us to show you what a real morning looks and feels like in our Montessori classrooms. Families must attend an Information Session before attending an Observation Morning.

Our next Admissions events will be in fall of 2024. Please contact us to inquire about enrollment. We will let you know when our fall dates are published.

3. Submit an Application for Admission

After attending an Information Session, you will be sent a link to our application. There is a $75 non-refundable application fee.

4. Parent or Guardian Interview

The parent interview is an opportunity for us to get to know you better and for you to ask more detailed questions about our programs. The interview is conducted virtually via Zoom. We encourage all parents/guardians to be present for the interview.

Children with Learning Differences and Special Needs

Children with physical, mental, or educational differences are considered for admission. Reasonable accommodations will be made within the parameters of the Montessori philosophy and its implementation in the classroom and that the child does not pose a risk to themself or others. A recent diagnostic assessment by a qualified professional which identifies the child’s needs within a learning environment is required. Periodic assessment may also be required during the school year and prior to re-enrollment. An educational assessment made during this time will determine the child’s progress and whether our environment supports the developmental needs of the child.
