“My history with Greenspring is filled with cherished memories and meaningful experiences, not only as a member of the community but also as a parent whose children thrived during their formative years in such a nurturing environment. The bonds and friendships I formed during my time at Greenspring have had a lasting impact on me, and I am deeply grateful for the role the school has played in both my personal and professional life. I have always believed in the Montessori pedagogy, and it has been a guiding principle in my educational philosophy. I am excited to be a part of Greenspring Montessori School once again and contribute to its ongoing mission of fostering a love of learning in every child.”

Tana Vilar is the Upper Elementary Guide for the Ginkgo classroom. She initially joined the Greenspring community in 2009, working as a Lower Elementary Assistant and then later as our Spanish Enrichment Guide. She and her family moved to Spain where they have been living for the past seven years.
Tana’s Montessori journey began as a child attending Colegio Montessori de Puerto Rico, instilling in her a lifelong passion for this unique educational philosophy. Over the past 30 years, she has been deeply involved in education, starting with an internship in a Special Education Art Classroom during high school. After graduating college, Tana worked as an ESL teacher before deciding to return to her roots and earning her Montessori credentials. She worked in the Lower Elementary classroom at Colegio Ana Maria Sandoval Dual Language Montessori School in Denver, Colorado and as a Special Education Teacher. For the past seven years, she has been part of the Momo Escola Viva community in Barcelona, Spain working as an Elementary English Language Guide and Co-Lead Guide in Lower and Upper Elementary. Tana is currently completing her Elementary II training through the Montessori Elementary Teacher Training Collaborative (METTC).

When Tana has free time, she enjoys spending time with her large and close-knit family, supporting them in various ways. She has a passion for traveling and seeking out new experiences, as well as reading, enjoying art and film, and going for walks. These activities enrich her life and inspire her work as an educator.
