Greenspring Montessori School has been a second home to my children and me. It is with great pride and purpose that I begin each school day, eager to witness the discoveries that may unfold in the life of a child.

Emily Shattuck is the Lead Guide in one of our Children’s House Spanish Dual Language classrooms. Emily began her career as a classroom assistant at Greenspring Montessori School for 13 years prior to becoming a lead guide. She earned her Montessori Teaching Credential in 2007, right here at the Maryland Center for Montessori Studies, our Montessori teacher training center. Emily then worked in the Children’s House for four years, interning with Saundra Heard. After that, she was a longtime assistant in our Lower Elementary Program.

Emily comes to the classroom with an understanding of Montessori education across the planes of development. She is a mother of two children, both of whom have been at Greenspring Montessori since toddlerhood. Her eldest graduated from our Adolescent Community in 2014 and her youngest graduated in 2018.

Emily has a strong love of the natural world, literature, gardening, and sports. She is proficient in written and spoken Spanish.
