Kalai is a Co-Guide in the Dogwood Children’s House classroom.  Kalai began her career at Greenspring Montessori School as a Toddler Assistant in 2018 and has also worked as an Outdoor Environment Supervisor for our Children’s House classrooms and an Upper Elementary Assistant in our Learning from Home model in 2020. She served as a Children’s House Assistant for three years before she began her Montessori training in 2022 at Washington Montessori Institute in Maryland.

Kalai began her Montessori journey as a child in a Montessori school in the south of India. Before coming to Greenspring, Kalai was working with children of mixed ages for four years teaching Tamil, her native language, as well as tutoring mathematics. She quickly realized that she was passionate about the Montessori method and wanted to study to become a Montessori Guide.

Kalai loves doing art projects with children, as well as gardening and cooking fresh produce that she grew herself. Kalai’s daughter is also a student in our Upper Elementary classroom.
