Zahra is the Humanities Guide in the Adolescent Community at Greenspring Montessori School. She initially joined the community as a Children’s House parent in 2021, and became a staff member in 2023. Zahra comes to us with over ten years of experience in education and college counseling.
Zahra has worked to support first-generation college students in their efforts to research and apply to colleges and universities. As a Student Success and Scholarship Manager in Charleston, South Carolina, she designed and implemented a college readiness program for African-American high school students. Prior to that, she was a Counselor at a nonprofit college access organization in Bethesda, Maryland that helped students in Montgomery County and Washington D. C. navigate the college admissions process and provided guidance and support during their college years. As a counselor, she worked with first-generation college-bound students, guiding them in gaining college readiness skills and making decisions relating to coursework, college selection and entrance, and financial aid. Previously, she worked as a High School Social Studies and AVID Teacher in Fort Collins, Colorado. As an AVID instructor, she helped students learn study and organization skills, as well as explore options for life after high school. Zahra has also taught Social Studies, Humanities, and adult education in South Carolina and Massachusetts.
In her free time, Zahra enjoys reading, cooking, exercising, gardening, working on various crafts, and hanging out with her husband and her children, along with their new kitten.
